Prizes for Paisley duo keeping upbeat vibe

Specsavers commends 21 of its practitioners

Specsavers has commended 21 of its practitioners for displaying exceptional customer service skills – including two from the same practice.

Among those commended in round four of its Customer First awards was Ross Kirk, pictured, optometrist at Specsavers Paisley. Kirk’s colleague, dispensing assistant Martin Melrose, also received a commendation.

Paisley store director Gail Thompson said: ‘We’d just received the Platinum Employer accreditation when we got these two commendations, which was lovely. It’s a testament to the whole team really. We have 35 team members including 11 opticians and a pre-registration optometrist, and from the students through to the professionals, they’re all brilliant. I honestly couldn’t be prouder of them.’

Kirk started working for Specsavers’ Barrhead store while studying for his optometry degree at Glasgow Caledonian University, moving to the Paisley store for his pre-registration placement in July 2017.

He said: ‘I always keep in mind that the person I’m seeing could be someone’s mum, dad, brother or gran, and if my mum was having an eye test I’d want her to have the best possible service. With that in mind I try to make everyone’s journey through the store as individual as possible. Every customer’s different and I always put in effort for everyone. I try to have an upbeat vibe about everything and be as happy as I can and hopefully make their journey as smooth as possible.’
