Prof Mo Jalie receives honorary degree

Ulster University has given Professor Mo Jalie an honorary Doctor of Science (DSc) degree

Ulster University has given visiting Professor Mo Jalie an honorary Doctor of Science (DSc) degree in recognition of his contribution to the field of optics.

Prof Jalie is the author of eight highly regarded textbooks on ophthalmic lenses and dispensing and has published more than 250 papers on ophthalmic optics.

He has held a number of key positions, including the first chairman of the Faculty of Dispensing Opticians, the first chairman of the Academic Committee of the Association of British Dispensing Opticians and a member of the GOC Overseas Qualifications Committee, to name a few.

Professor Roger Anderson, who delivered the encomium at the university’s summer graduation, said: ‘Having Mo’s reputation associated with Ulster University is an honour and privilege, but he has always considered himself part of our team at all times and the staff are extremely pleased that he has received this honour.’
