The Queen has undergone a planned cataract procedure that was a success, a Buckingham Palace spokesperson has told the BBC.

The 92-year-old monarch was treated as a day patient at the private King Edward VII’s hospital in London for the condition last month and had no complications as a result, the news service reported.

She had reportedly been seen wearing sunglasses at recent events such as the Royal Windsor Horse Show but had not cancelled any engagements since having the 30-45-minute-long operation that requires four to six weeks of recovery.
