Introducing a rising star at Boots Opticians

John McGuinness, practice manager at Boots Opticians on Market Street, Manchester has risen fast since completing his pre-reg placement with the company four years ago.

Within six months of joining he had successfully applied for Boots’ Rising Stars programme, having decided he wanted to enter management.

He says: ‘Boots Opticians are best in terms of success rates for the pre-reg placements, and had the best route for me to reach where I wanted to go.

‘Initially, the Boots franchise model was very appealing to me, but I really like where I am now as a manager and the avenues open to me at the moment. They’ve looked after me and I can see other opportunities, so there’s been a slight change of heart regarding having my own franchise.’
