Safilo sets sights on sustainability with new partnership

Safilo has partnered with Coventya, a developer of specialty chemicals for surface finishing treatments, as part of the eyewear company’s commitment to investing in sustainable processes.

As part of the agreement, Safilo will get exclusive use of Metal X material and reduce the use of palladium metal in galvanic treatments during frames production by 90%.

Fabio Roppoli, chief product supply officer of the Safilo Group, said: ‘By eliminating palladium in favour of Metal X, we take a further step forward in our business strategies focused on sustainability and we are sure that this innovation will be appreciated by our customers and consumers, who are increasingly concerned about these issues.’
