Industry veteran takes top award

Pat Bulger receives Sasha Georgevic Award by Scrivens Opticians

Pat Bulger has received the Sasha Georgevic Award by Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care at a managers’ conference attended by more than 220 delegates.

The strategy director, who has worked at Scrivens for 21 years, was honoured with the company’s top accolade for his life-long dedication.

After starting his career in optics in 1962 as a trainee dispensing optician, Bulger spent many years in practice before joining Scrivens’ management team in 1998 as operations director.

Bulger said: ‘I am honoured to receive such a special award. I have consistently worked with great, passionate and dedicated people and seen the company grow over the years to become a truly national one, while retaining its unique family feel and roots in the Midlands.’

The annual award is given in memory of the company’s late chairman, father to present chairman Nicholas Georgevic and director Mark Georgevic, and is open to all Scrivens employees with a minimum of five years’ service.

Nicholas Georgevic said: ‘It has been a privilege and great pleasure working alongside Pat for the last 20-plus years and he is undoubtedly richly deserving of this honour. Since Pat joined us at the beginning of 1998, he has been instrumental in professionalising the management of our retail business.

‘Pat has always been exceptionally generous with his time for others with an unrivalled ability to find practical solutions to complex issues. His contribution to our business, now in a part-time capacity, continues at a very high level.’
