Shamir adds infra-red filter to its Glacier Plus UV coating
Shamir has added an infra-red (IR) filter to its Glacier Plus UV coating, boosting its protection against IR and UV radiation.
In addition to the two types of radiation protection, the Glacier Plus UV IR also includes anti-reflection, scratch and static protection and repels water and oil, helping to keep the surface and view clear.
Shamir’s research and development team created a coating to help protect against IR while maintaining all the attributes of the previous coating.
It protects the eyes against infra-red light from the sun, exposure to which causes the development of cataracts and thermal damage to the crystalline lens, retina, cornea and eyelids.
