u After more than 35 years practising in Ayr, optometrist Sir Donald Maclean has retired. Sir Donald moved from Perth to Ayr to manage James Rusk Opticians in 1965, and later bought the practice. He was knighted in the QueenÕs Birthday Honours List in
Sir Donald said that he looks forward to an altered lifestyle, but will miss practising. However, his retirement will allow him to see more of his family and do more fishing. ÔI had hoped that the business would continue in independent hands to provide first-class service, and now I am about to retire knowing that such is the case,Õ he added.
The practice will continue trading with a new owner, optometrist Helen Scott. The current staff will remain.
