Specsavers employee raises money for CALM charity

Specsavers’ Ross Campbell fundraises for mental health charity

Specsavers’ director of optometry advancement Ross Campbell has been fundraising for a charity that aims to prevent male suicide.

Campbell raised £1,250 for Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) by participating in the Great North Run this year. He wanted to support the charity after some of his friends experienced mental health issues.

He said: 'I’m raising money for a cause which is close to my heart. Sometimes something which might seem simple in the grand scheme of things can end up really wearing someone down if they don’t speak out or seek help. It’s so important to raise awareness of the services that are out there and make mental health something that people and particularly men feel comfortable opening up about.’
