Total of 250 Specsavers dispensing assistants attain level four certificates

A total of 250 Specsavers dispensing assistants in the UK and Ireland recently attained level four certificates in optical dispensing, taking the number of graduates to more than 1,300 since the company introduced the qualification five years ago.

The qualification sits between optical assistant and dispensing optician, providing a platform for around 100 Specsavers students a year who go on to qualify as full dispensing opticians.

More than 500 Specsavers staff in the Nordics and Netherlands have also completed #Cert 4 – as well as hundreds more in Australia and New Zealand, where the qualification was established.

The multiple’s co-founder Dame Mary Perkins thanked the graduates for their hard work and motivation, along with employers, supervisors, tutors and families who offered support along the way.

She said: ‘Your qualification means that you now form part of the new, skilled front line teams able to support the extended role our optometrists and audiologists will play in the provision of primary and secondary healthcare on the high street.’
