Specsavers launches EOS diploma for its clinical assistants

Specsavers has launched a new Enhanced Optical Services (EOS) diploma for its clinical assistants.

The qualification, a BTEC Level 2 in Healthcare Science, will develop the skills of assistants who perform delegated ophthalmological or optometric procedures in practices. Its lasts for 18 months and focuses on anatomy, pathology, managing patients with complex needs, managing risks and NHS culture and practice.

Kevin Liu optometrist director at Specsavers Sale and Altrincham and a head of EOS for Specsavers, said: ‘As a store, we are completely invested in people development and feel this qualification is the natural step for our people wanting to develop themselves and their careers. We embrace any advances in EOS we can be involved in and believe this will be increasingly important as the industry evolves.’
