Specsavers optometrists in Northern Ireland have completed a Professional Certificate in Medical Retina to upgrade their enhanced optical services.

Optical professionals from each of the multiple’s 22 practices undertook the course, which blended learning with online and face-to-face study from medical retina experts. It was accredited by the College of Optometrists and included information on retinal conditions, digital retinal imaging and using OCT.

Dr Raymond Beirne, course director from Ulster University, said: ‘We are delighted that so many local Specsavers optometrists have taken the time and effort to enhance and upskill their knowledge and understanding of medical retina through this Ulster University course.
