Specsavers has highlighted the story of a contact lens optician (CLO) who started off as a lab technician in celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8.
Victoria Holt has worked at the multiple for 12 years in various roles, including store manager and dispensing optician, before completing a course to become a CLO 18 months ago.
‘I’ll consider optometry in the future. It’s certainly a great route to get into optometry from being a CLO, so never say never. But if it happens, it won’t be for a while. I love the role I’m in. I feel I’ve always got a stepping-stone onto something and I can choose the path I want,’ Holt said.
She added that she encourages staff to pursue progression opportunities as they have nothing to lose and have the support of their colleagues and Specsavers.
