Specsavers staff to assist glaucoma patients

Ahead of World Glaucoma Week (March 11-18), Specsavers has developed training for its retail teams to assist sufferers.
Front of house staff at the multiple will be taught how to help patients effectively administer eye drops and, by the end of this week, it is hoped that each store will have a minimum of one person that has completed the course.
Karen Osborn, chief executive of International Glaucoma Association (IGA), said: ‘Unfortunately we know from calls to our helpline that many people aren’t told about how to put the drop in the eye correctly, or aren’t advised about the aids that are available to help them. We are delighted to work with Specsavers on this often over-looked aspect of glaucoma management.’
