Grafton Optical has entered an exclusive deal with Visionix to distribute the Eye Refract to the UK and Ireland.
The company said the Eye Refract was suited to optometrists looking to complete a fast yet accurate refraction in a quarter of the time previously taken using traditional methods.
Grafton said Eye Refract coupled automatic refraction with simultaneous lens adjustment enabled using a dual aberrometer system. This cuts refraction time from between eight and 10 minutes to two minutes claimed the firm.
The instrument has two Shack-Hartmann sensors running at the same time to offer binocular refraction. These combined with the phoropter head allows Eye Refract to correct visual defects, said Grafton.
Other features of Eye Refract include near and distance vison measurement, autofocusing and control through a Wi-Fi enabled tablet.
