Staff member steals thousands from practice

The individual pleaded guilty to stealing £4,000 from IntelliSight Opticians

A member of staff at IntelliSight Opticians in Redcar pleaded guilty to stealing £4,000 from the optical practice after accumulating around £10,000 in debt.

Magistrates heard Robynne Chandler stole more than £8,000, but Chandler pleaded guilty to stealing £4,000 between September 1, 2020 and January 31, 2022, according to Teesside Live.

IntelliSight Opticians found financial discrepancies in the business accounts and Chandler admitted the theft after staff were questioned. Chandler’s mother repaid £3,000 to the practice but was unable to repay the remainder.

Chandler was given an 18-month community order and must complete 60 days of rehabilitation activity.
