A member of staff at an opticians in Haverfordwest was harassed during a consultation when she told a customer that no contact lenses were available.

Paul Jenkins pleaded guilty to using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress when he appeared before magistrates in Haverfordwest in August.

Jenkins became enraged when he was told that no contact lenses were available, stating that he did not want glasses as they did not suit him. The prosecutor explained that he then ‘became very angry. He started raising his voice and shouting,’ before he ‘threw down a chair and the women feared he was going to hit her.’

Magistrates sentenced Jenkins to a 12-month community order and was ordered to pay a £260 fine.
