Student DO suspended

Haroon Amin’s fitness to undertake training was found to be impaired

A student dispensing optician based in Leeds has been suspended from the optical register for 12 months by the General Optical Council after a fitness to practise hearing.

Haroon Amin’s fitness to undertake training was found to be impaired by reason of misconduct and conviction.

The decision was taken in relation to Amin copying and amending an essay of another student and submitting it as his own.

In addition, after receiving a conviction of dangerous driving, Amin was found to have acted dishonestly when he sent an email to the GOC stating that a member of the GOC visited his home and taken documents relating to his conviction when they had not done so.
