Student optometrist suspended

London-based student optometrist Lukshana Jeyaruban has been suspended from the GOC’s register for six months.

London-based student optometrist Lukshana Jeyaruban has been suspended from the GOC’s register for six months.

Jeyaruban’s suspension was imposed by a GOC fitness to practise committee because she knowingly submitted a plagiarised third-year dissertation that had been drafted by another person.

The GOC’s committee deemed a period of suspension as ‘the appropriate and proportionate sanction’ that would ‘satisfy the public
interest’.

Jeyaruban’s suspension was intended to provide her with time to develop her insight and demonstrate at a review that her remediation was complete. A review hearing has been planned for between four and six weeks prior to the expiration of the suspension.
