Students step up to Specsavers design challenge

Students have their eyewear creations turned into products and put on sale

Students have had their eyewear creations turned into products and placed on sale in the Design Collective range following a competition hosted by Specsavers.

Four finalists were drawn from over 140 entries creating a 14-frame collection which went on sale earlier this month. Specsavers said the purpose of the competition was to support British design talent. The 2020 competition has already begun with designs being sought from colleges across the country and similar projects launched in Australasia and northern Europe.

The four finalists who had their designs made into products are (left to right - see photo): Tiffany Bachelet, studying product design at University of Dundee and the overall winner Joshua Teodoro, studying industrial design at Loughborough University, Lydia Blackshaw, graduate of jewellery and silversmithing at Glasgow School of Art, and Emily Hill who is studying Footwear Design at London College of Fashion (UAL).
