Suffolk opticians offer eye tests to Chernobyl children

Observatory the Opticians in Beccles provides eye tests for Belarusian children

Observatory the Opticians in Beccles, Suffolk has provided eye examinations for Belarusian children for the fifth year running.

A total of 10 children who were affected by the Chernobyl disaster visited the practice for sight tests, five of whom needed glasses. Lenses were donated by Hoya and frames came from Eyespace, The Eyewear Company and Wolf Eyewear.

Practice manager Jacqui Sayer said: ‘It is a very humbling experience to meet these children and be able to help with such a valuable initiative. This is one of our favourite days in the year, witnessing the expression on the faces of these children when they can see clearly for the first time is really rewarding. I look forward to welcoming more children in 2020.’
