Professor Sunil Shah’s humanitarian work in Cambodia is recognised by ASCRS

Professor Sunil Shah’s humanitarian work in Cambodia has been recognised by the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS).

Current president of the BCLA, Prof Shah is of the nominees for the ASCRS Foundation Chang Humanitarian Award, which recognises outstanding work in the cataract blindness area. Ophthalmologist Dr Mitchell Jackson nominated him due to his work with the Khmer Sight Foundation, which helps to restore sight to Cambodians who cannot afford eye surgery.

Prof Shah said: ‘It’s always nice to have your work recognised and to be nominated for this Award was a real honour. However, this has been and continues to be a wonderful team effort and I want to thank my friends, colleagues and ex-students who have put so much into the Cambodia initiative.’
