61% of surveyed UK residents with vision problems haven't considered laser eye surgery

Results from OCL Vision's research into patients' attitudes towards laser eye surgery revealed that 61% of surveyed UK residents with vision problems hadn’t considered the procedure.

The company's study also showed that nearly a third (31%) of patients who were opposed to the idea said they were put off by the potential risks of the procedure.

Dr Romesh Angunawela, a consultant laser surgeon at OCL Vision, said: ‘While many have concerns about the safety of the procedure and potential risks, with the evolution of technology for selecting patients and increased accuracy of laser application, laser eye surgery is one of the safest and most predictable vision correction procedures.’
