A BBC Radio 4 appeal for Sightsavers has been bolstered by Ackley Bridge's Sunetra Sarker.
A BBC Radio 4 appeal for Sightsavers has been bolstered by Ackley Bridge actress Sunetra Sarker.
Sarker planned to share the story of Zuwaira, a Nigerian trachoma sufferer who received life changing surgery after 27 years, every day for a week on the radio station’s airwaves.
‘I’ve seen first-hand how Sightsavers prevents sight loss and avoidable blindness,’ said Sarker, ‘Their vision is of a world where no one is blind from avoidable causes, and I’d love more people to help Sightsavers eliminate diseases and give people their sight back.’
