Tompkins Knight & Son Optometrists builds optometry research facility

Tompkins Knight & Son Optometrists has transformed a fire destroyed garage into a modern optometry research facility.

The research and development lab will be launched on October 10 to celebrate the Northampton based practice’s 150th anniversary. American optometrist Tom Arnold is to attend the event to discuss specialist scleral contact lenses with European optometrists.

Brian Tompkins, co-owner of the practice, said: ‘For 150 years [we] have been at the forefront of eye health and the technology at our disposal today means we can continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible in eye care. The Garage Research & Development Lab is the latest step in our journey and it will allow us to host some of the finest optometrists in the world, sharing their knowledge and allowing our team to practice the pioneering techniques that will make a long-lasting difference to patients’ lives.’
