Tried and Tested: Ingrained uniqueness

Environmental issues and sustainability of product are big news

Environmental issues and sustainability of product are big news and eyewear is no different.

Last year Optician profiled Viega, an artisan company that makes eyewear from biodegradable acetates and reclaimed woods (26.10.18).

Viega uses woods which have been reclaimed and handmade, biodegradable flax-based acetates to create classic styles. The product on test felt sturdy and well-crafted and despite its size was surprisingly light to wear. A five barrel hinge, keyhole bridge and deep arms of ancient wood and glazed in polarised lenses complete the picture.

Viega really comes into its own through its backstory and found favour among younger, eco-lifestylers. If you are looking for something quality made and not available elsewhere this could be it.
