Vision Care for Homeless People seeks volunteers
Author: Emma White
Eye care charity Vision Care for Homeless People is calling on London-based volunteers to assist with the running of its weekly walk-in clinics until the end of the year.
The organisation, which is pending formal registration with the Charity Commission, is seeking optometrists, dispensing opticians, students and optical assistants for full and part-time assistance at its four London-based centres.
Set up three years ago by optometrist Harinder Paul, the charity has so far examined the eyes of over 1200 homeless people and dispensed numerous pairs of spectacles.
‘Vision Care has gone from strength to strength over its first three years, running weekly walk-in clinics for homeless people at the London headquarters of charity Crisis and its further three homeless centres,’ said Paul.
‘We urgently need more volunteers to help us deliver this vital service that we know helps change people’s lives for the better.’
