Organisers of Vision Expo East have been monitoring the coronavirus (Covid-19) situation and stated that the New York tradeshow will go ahead as planned from March 26–29.
Measures to ensure the safety of attendees, including increased cleaning and sanitisation at the event, are being worked on by the Vision Council and the show’s venue, the Javits Center.
Ashley Mills, CEO of the Vision Council, said: ‘We wish to express our concern for everyone impacted by the Covid-19 virus including those in China who play such a critical role in the delivery of eyewear and eyecare in the US.’
Mills added that the Vision Expo team’s thoughts are with its friends and peers at Mido following the announcement that the Italian trade show has been postponed until July because of the coronavirus.
‘It is our hope that this health crisis subsides as quickly and safely as possible. The well-being of everyone at Vision Expo, from our attendees and exhibitors to our staff on-site, is of the utmost importance to the Vision Council and our partners. We will continue to work diligently to ensure Vision Expo and our other events live up to our high standards and we will continue to provide updates as we get closer to Vision Expo East,’ Mills said.
