Vision Express unveils new eye health commercial with Julie Walters

British actress and writer Julie Walters has been announced as the face of Vision Express’s latest TV commercial.

Planned to be broadcast for the first time on Sunday 18 June, the commercial will feature footage of the actress in some of her most famous roles including Mrs Overall in Acorn Antiques and dance teacher Sandra Wilkinson in Billy Elliot.

While the advert hints at Walters’s playful side, its intention is to reaffirm the ‘Vision. Taken Seriously.’ campaign launched in 2014 which calls on the industry and the public to acknowledge the importance of sight tests and eye health.

In the advert, Walters said: ‘My sight has obviously been invaluable to me throughout my career, giving me the vision to create my characters. I urge everyone to look after their eyes and to take vision seriously.’

Walters’s appearance follows the successful 2015 ‘Eyewitness’ advert which featured broadcaster Sir Trevor McDonald.

Marketing director at Vision Express Andy Portsmouth added: ‘Through our latest creative we have a fresh take on our messaging, highlighting the importance of regular sight tests while featuring footage of the much-loved Julie Walters. We hope this advert will resonate with people of all ages and encourage them to book that essential sight check.’

The advert is edited in 30 and 60 second formats with the 60 second version available on YouTube.
