Young eye cancer survivor opens new Vision Express practice

An 11 year old eye cancer survivor opens new Vision Express practice in Gateshead

An 11 year old eye cancer survivor was the guest of honour at the opening of the new Vision Express practice in Gateshead.

James Marshall developed retinoblastoma at 20 months old and had his eye removed as a result. Marshall and his mother cut the ribbon to officially open the new practice, which is located in the Metrocentre. He has also become an ambassador for the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust.

‘It was brilliant to have James and his mum join us to officially declare our new store open. His story of overcoming adversity despite the vision challenges he faces, is nothing short of inspirational, Vision Express Metrocentre practice manager Janice Bainbridge said. ‘It’s great to ring the changes in a new location. Our new look has been well received by our customers, and we’re now in a much more convenient, accessible location too.’
