Cartier panther roars in Oxford street

One year on from Kering's deal with Maison Cartier it launches a rejuvenated range designed to bring in younger wearers for the famous jewellery brand

Kering Eyewear has revealed Cartier’s Panthère de Cartier and Santos de Cartier ranges at a launch event At Vision Express’s flagship store in Oxford Street.

Just 13 destination Vision Express stores will carry Cartier which has enjoyed a place in VE’s portfolio of brands for the last 15 years.

The collections mark a move for the famous jewellery brand to entice a younger audience to its eyewear following the partnership between the Maison Cartier and Kering a year ago.

Within the latest collections are 12 ophthalmic frames and 10 sunglass designs. The Panthère de Cartier collection exemplifies Cartier’s luxury and opulence. The range features glossy blacks and tortoiseshell alongside rimless styles featuring large eye sizes and includes modern square and cat-eye acetates and oversized rounds featuring richly-coloured graduated lenses. Cartier uses its panther decal at the temple in bold and gold 3D relief and icon which has represented the brand since 1914.

Santos de Cartier draws inspiration from Brazilian aviation pioneer Alberto Santos-Dumont. The range has a timeless feel and mixes gold-coloured metals with black and leather detailing plus icons taken from classic Cartier watch designs and the world of aviation.

Ermes Stefanutto, head of Kering eyewear in the UK, Ireland, Nordic and Benelux said launch the product in Oxford Street would build awareness for the brand. ‘What is changing is that we are making the collection more appealing to a new target. We are trying to talk to a younger generation.’ He said when the range was revealed to independent customers the reaction was incredible and the sell out really good.
