Zeiss launches Clarus 500 Ultra-widefield (UWF) imaging system

New to the UK market is the Clarus 500 Ultra-widefield (UWF) imaging system from Zeiss.

The new device offers high resolution imaging across the entire retina and according to Zeiss, is the first fundus imaging system that combines true colour and high levels of clarity down to seven microns in ultra-widefield view from the macula to the far periphery. ‘The system produces images in true colour that closely resemble the colour of the retina, as seen through direct observation during clinical examination,’ added Zeiss.

In addition to true colour imaging, the device also captures high resolution fundus autofluorescence (FAF) images – FAF-Blue, FAF-Green, infrared and external images of the eye.

Analysis of conditions is aided with multi-modal functionality. The device integrates with Zeiss Forum and Retina Workplace for review alongside other ophthalmic images and data from eye tests.

The patient experience has been aided through design that moves the optics towards the subject with fewer obstructions to lids and lashes.
