All we need to know

Can you imagine the reaction of the general public if the Government announced that their children could sit as many GCSEs as they liked, but if they passed more than seven, the rest wouldn't count.

As a profession we are a joke. Doctors, held in the highest esteem by the establishment have their well-appointed and well-funded 'surgeries'.

Dentists, in their 'surgeries', ditch the NHS because the remuneration is a joke, yet, as reward, are given the right to call themselves doctors.

Pharmacists in the 'pharmacy', or at worst, the 'chemist's', are obviously considered nearly as good as your GP, judging by the amount of time spent urging us to visit them prior to visiting the GP.

Opticians, what do we have? A shop! What's more, a shop where everything is overpriced and the general public are encouraged to 'shop around' for the best deal. Or better still, to go to the supermarket and give themselves a pat on the bum on the way out. I can't imagine ever asking the supermarket staff which aisle the false teeth are on, or perhaps the latest line in DIY pacemakers?

When we graduate, or register as qualified, instead of being handed a diploma, it might be more appropriate just to stamp 'MUG' on our foreheads. We shouldn't be doing CET at all, all we need to know are the basics in life. The correct way to grovel, when doffing the cap is obligatory or just recommended, and the correct way to say thank you for being paid about one third of what we ask for each year.

PS - Don't show this to the master upstairs, or I'll be out of a job with no reference for sure.
