Bill Harvey: The final curtain

I was originally going to simply say… no comment. But, it is the end of the year and this would seem just too miserabilist at a time where there appears to be ever increasing challenges ahead.

It has certainly been a year of significance, over and beyond the chaotic political turbulence. We have seen the closure of one new optometry department while more have sprung into action. We have also seen some debate driven by the GOC proposals from its Educational Strategic Review, particularly concerns over its hints of a move towards a single provider. There has been a major protest over plans to develop an apprenticeship for optometrist qualification too, and I am certain this will be a major focus in the new year too.
