Have a look at the various UK optometry forums and social media groups and it won’t be long before you find a conversation about myopia management.

What becomes quite clear very quickly is that the varied level of knowledge among practitioners is beginning to cause a problem. It’s almost as if products are being released faster than the profession can learn about them effectively.

One recent thread saw a discussion about myopia management options for a five-year-old patient with sphere -0.75D and -0.25D and cylinder of -1.75. Potential options ranged from spectacle lenses, contact lenses, a mixture of both and even spending more time outdoors and less time on digital devices.
