Halloween is nearly upon us and patients need to be scared into only buying novelty contact lenses under the supervision of a registered practitioner.
This is the message from the British Contact Lens Association ahead of the October 31 event.
Despite this though, a simple Google search for ‘Halloween contact lenses’ brings up 22,800 results for customers to shop from, making Opticians Act requirements for supervision and ongoing care more laughable than horrifying.
While the zombie, cat and vampire lenses are being sold through retailers not based in the UK or answerable to the Optician Act, should patients wake up with an eye infection the trick will very much be on them.
