Some of the best relationships start with a chance meeting, where serendipity leads to vision and innovation. I met the amazing Dr Anitha Arvind and Professor Monica Chaudhry in Venice at the Tear Film & Ocular Surface Society (TFOS) 2024 conference and via our shared passion for the ocular surface and contact lenses, we began to formulate a plan to benefit optometrists and ophthalmologists in India with something they struggle to get: evidence-based hands-on ocular surface and contact lenses workshop experience.

Dry eye disease (DED) is a multifactorial condition affecting millions worldwide, and India, with its diverse climate and rising screen use, has, like most regions, seen an increasing prevalence of the disease. Recognising the need for a more hands-on approach in managing this condition, the British Contact Lens Association (BCLA) and Learn Beyond Vision (LBV) collaborated to create an innovative workshop on the ocular surface, contact lenses and dry eye disease.
