BCLA: Bringing compliance up to scratch

The Belfry in Birmingham, best known as a high end golf destination, played host to eye care professionals eager to learn more about contact lenses last month. Joe Ayling reports from the revamped BCLA UK conference where contact lens compliance was high on the agenda

Patients need reassuring in plain English about compliance. This was the clear message of BCLA UK speaker Sarah Morgan, who joined a host of experts at the Belfry.

The BCLA decided to re-focus its annual event to cater for the UK profession this year, with its larger BCLA Conference and Exhibition now a biennial event.

Although downsized, BCLA UK attracted a high quality crowd to a still significant exhibition area and lectures on subjects including compliance, fitting children, aftercare and latest innovations.

Organisers noted afterwards that a ‘brave new world’ beckoned for the contact lens sector, and Professor Phil Morgan concluded the programme with a run-down of future trends including myopia control CLs.
