The video shows a cover test. The patient has been asked to view the smallest possible target they can see with their worse eye. This ensures any accommodation needed to overcome any hypermetropia is used and this will serve to maximise any inward turn of the eye.
The right eye is covered first and the left eye is seen not to move. On covering the left eye however the right eye moves outwards significantly (around 18 prism dioptres has been recorded for this patient). This therefore represents a large angle right esotropia.
