As with all areas of health care, the earlier a child is introduced to the concept of eye tests, the less likely they will feel anxious about going to their optician and the less likely to embrace the many myths surrounding eye care (‘it hurts,’ ‘everyone gets glasses,’ ‘they take your eye out to look at the back’ to name a few I have heard over the years). In fact, with good, focused information at the earliest age, they might instead look forward to regular eye tests and become confident enough to be involved in their own care for life.
