Once limited to office use, gaming, or telecommunications, digital devices now truly encompass every part of our daily lives. Smartphones, desktop and laptop computers, tablets and e-readers, video games, and televisions are commonplace, and their accessibility has allowed almost everyone of any age to become a ‘user.’ The use of these devices has transformed the way we live and work but our widespread dependence on these devices is highlighted by the fact that 90% of Americans use digital devices for more than two hours each day.1 What is more, market research recently reported that nearly 30% of adults in the United States spend more than nine hours per day using a digital device.2
