With 12.3 million people in the UK under the age of 16 years,1 children make up around one fifth of the population (20.1 per cent, 2009). Due to the nature of the market - parents providing for offspring - it has been theorised that the children's sector will be more resilient to the recession.2 Has this really been the case and what potential does this market offer?
