The latest edition of this volume is a must for contact lens practitioners, writes Andy Franklin
As the editors point out in the preface, Contact Lenses has been with us for a while. The original version by Stone and Phillips was published in 1972 in two volumes. When the last edition was released in 1997 - nearly a decade ago - it was perhaps starting to exhibit symptoms common to those embracing middle age. A bit more bulky than we would like in places, and somewhat out of touch with the young people of late.
Comprehensive update
The good news is that the fifth edition has had a major revision, and it has done the venerable tome a lot of favours.
