Coopervision student summit: Award winning pupil project in the spotlight

In the first article looking at the research undertaken by each of the finalists in this year’s CooperVision Student of the Year competition, Bill Harvey takes a look at the winning project

I had the pleasure recently of chairing a panel of judges from the UK optometry departments to decide which of the shortlisted projects undertaken by students over the summer months should be selected as winner of the 2016 CooperVision Student of the Year. As the standard of entries was so high this year, and the voting so close, we have decided each merits a report over the coming monthly contact lens issues. We will begin with the overall winner.

Winner – Ambreen Saira Hussain (Glasgow Caledonian University – GCU)

Project – Effect of contact lens material on in vitro wettability in adverse environmental conditions
