Cosmetic contact lenses have undergone something of a renaissance recently. While once a popular choice, cosmetic contact lenses failed to employ the advances in materials which bought benefits such as breathability and comfort to wearers. That has changed. Recent product, such as the Air Optix Colors, claim the same on-eye performance as its clear cousin the Air Optix Aqua, providing fitters with more confidence. Fashions for cosmetic effect have also progressed with a more natural enhancement taking over from the idea of changing eye colour. Cosmetic lenses also offer a business opportunity for practices looking to offer something a little different to their patients.
