Alexander Swystun tells Andrew McClean about investigating differences in sight test outcomes at multiples and independents

AM: Why did you decide to focus on the areas explored?
AS: I’m currently completing a PhD at the University of Bradford centred on the management of eye disease in primary care in the UK. Previous studies have found that lower socio-economic status appears to correlate with lower uptake of NHS sight tests, (1) and that referral accuracy can be related to the type of practice that the referral originated from. (2) Therefore, we wanted to explore whether these two variables had any relationship with the outcomes of sight tests (as given on the GOS forms).
