Dream come true

The Optical Product of the Year Award category made its second appearance in this year’s Optician Awards and no one could have predicted the scale and diversity of the entries received.

Judging this category proved to be very difficult indeed given the number of entries. The panel decided to create a shortlist of no less than six products. These spanned product sectors such as frames, lenses, contact lenses, solutions and instruments. But there was one product that stood alone.

Ortho K from No 7 Contact Lens Laboratory is the kind of product/system/service that comes along once in a decade and it won the judges over with its ‘wow’ factor. Although the science of orthokeratology is nothing new, No 7 took the ProCornea Dreamlite technology and developed DreamLens, an Ortho K system tailored for the current market.
