Dry Eye: Tools for diagnosis and therapy

Optician presents a selection of the diagnostic and therapeutic instruments that help practitioners treat dry eye in practice

The Oculus Keratograph 5M, distributed by Mainline Instruments, is said to lead the way in effective dry eye diagnosis with its advanced, non-invasive technology. The device offers precise assessments, such as non-invasive tear film break-up time, meibography, tear meniscus height and bulbar redness grading. Mainline says the Oculus’ high-resolution imaging and detailed reports improve diagnostic accuracy and patient communication.

Essilor Instruments says the Idra device allows eye care professionals to accurately capture tear film instability data, and then provide clearly presented metrics that are simple for the patient to understand. It also has an accompanying smartphone app, which serves as an interactive communication platform enabling patients to receive exam results, therapy and knowledge about dry eye disease (DED).
