According to the Ocular Hypertension Treatment Study1 (OHTS), the cumulative risk of developing primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) for those with ocular hypertension (OHT) was 4.4 per cent in treated eyes and 9 per cent in controls. This represents a 50 per cent reduction of risk. Therefore early identification of patients at risk of developing POAG is critical.
