echo-1The British ophthalmic optics sector came under fire from Australian practitioner H T Gollop, who wrote in an article that the quality British Rx work had slumped to pre-war standards and that London’s ophthalmic industry did not match that of Perth where he practiced. However, the Australian optometric profession was said to have benefitted from British expertise when Douglas Cockerman moved to the country. In an article published in the Australian Journal of Optometry, Cockerman urged refractionists to constantly search for ways to improve and drew comparisons with medical refractionists.
